Hello Band Families,

Starting April 4th, students are able to register for the Middleton High School Marching Band! The marching band has no prerequisite other than for instrumentalists to be registered for band at the high school in the fall. The exception is with members of the color guard. The group is the largest activity in numbers within the district, and we'd love for you and/or your student to be involved as we will have an incredible show this upcoming year! This year's show, "Into the Night" will feature music from Prokofiev, Beethoven, Strauss, Billy Joel, and John Adams, and we're very excited about the show design!

Many students and families receiving this email have participated in the past, and we also welcome new members during any year of their time in high school. Every year we have students try marching band for their first time, either looking for more resume opportunities, or more experiences with their friends; we welcome all that would like to participate.

Registration for the Marching band opens April 4th - April 14th. Please go to our amazing booster page and follow the links to the marching band for access to the current calendar, handbook, registration, and additional information! If this is your first time, the process is numbered for your convenience.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have to erothacker@mcpasd.k12.wi.us as we pride ourselves in being a non-auditioned group with no cuts that has many student-athletes also involved! We can be flexible so your student can be involved in all the activities they enjoy.

Hope to see you soon!

-Press Release 10/17/2022

This last weekend the Middleton High School Marching Band finished their 2022 season at the WSMA State Championships achieving 2nd Place and State Champion Runner Up as well as 1st Place Colorguard! With over 30 bands competing, the marching band is proud to tie its personal best from last year and represent the Middleton area. "The marching season was a lot of hard work, but it was also very rewarding, not only because of how we did at state, but also because of all the priceless memories we made." said Naomi Janquart, a junior clarinet player. When asked about the achievement of the colorguard, Anika Cermak, a senior colorguard captain stated "When we're performing, we have no idea where we will place. All we can do is trust the work we put into the show." Looking forward to next year, Ben Zumbrunnen, a sophomore trombonist said "The band has grown a lot with a ton of amazing new members under the direction of our leadership. I'm excited to continue building next year."

When reflecting back on the season, Will Bush, a senior Drum Major said "It's been remarkable to be part of the growth this program has gone through since COVID. Very few marching band programs can say they are better off now than before 2020, yet we’ve worked hard to perform our two most successful seasons in school history. Though I am thrilled with what we have achieved, our goals have never changed. We strive to create art we are proud of. Above all else, that is our goal. Being part of the Middleton marching band the last two years has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life. During my two years, my hope was to create an environment that everyone felt welcomed and motivated by our sense of community, and that culture will carry over to future years. I am proud of how this program has continued to grow and I can’t wait to see where it goes. I am sure the best is yet to come."

The Middleton High School Cardinal Marching Band is the marching component of Middleton High School's comprehensive band program, which includes four concert bands, two percussion classes, four jazz ensembles, and athletic bands. Middleton High School also offers an innovative general music program with robust coursework in music production, non-ensemble performance, and hip hop studies. The Middleton Band would like to thank the supportive parents, staff, and administration of Middleton High School for making music and marching a part of our students' lives.
