John Gruber:

Assistant Professor of Trombone at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Doctoral graduate of University of Michigan's trombone studio, Dr. Gruber has held teaching positions with the Detroit Symphony, Siena Heights, and Ohio State University.


Timothy Riordan:

Director of Chamber Music and trombone studio at Merit School of Music in Chicago and Northern Illinois University. Riodan prides himself in teaching young trombonists and has presented masterclasses at Juilliard, Eastman, Northwestern, DePaul, Lawrence, and Indiana University.


Ingram Lee IV:

Lee is the instructor of Trombone and Euphonium at Texas Lutheran University School of Music and holds degrees from University of Michigan and the Yale School of Music and works out of the San Antonio area.


Riley Bahin:

Current Doctoral trombone student at University of Colorado - Boulder, Bahin also holds degrees from University of Michigan, and University of Georgia. Bahin has worked across all platforms of low brass instruction performing on Euphonium, Tuba, and Trombone across the country.


Alex Melzer:

Professional Trombonist in the Los Angeles area, Melzer holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and a Doctorate from the University of Southern California. Melzer is currently the trombonist of the Los Angeles based brass quintet Two Button Brass.

 
 

The Middleton Trombone Ensemble recorded their Solo & Ensemble pieces in preparation to send to professors and doctoral students around the country for feedback and clinics later this year. These recordings are the culmination of practice and hard work! Recordings included: "Achieved is the Glorious Work," "Inveni David," and "Chorale from Prince Igor."


The Trombone Ensemble consists of students across 9th-12th grades interested in learning and working on professional trombone literature in addition to their concert curriculum.

2. End-of-Year Concerts are just two weeks away!

Monday, May 9th -- Blocks 2, 3, 7

Tuesday, May 10th -- Blocks 6, 7 (and senior recognition)


Report time is 6:50. The concerts begin at 7:30. Dress code is the usual. ("Dress nice" for 9th grade; everyone else wears "all black.")


3. Jazz Bands meet Monday

Usual time, usual place. (Except for 7 o'clock jazz)


4. Percussion Class Concert - 5/21

Saturday, May 21st -- Block 1 (Cardinal and Advanced percussion classes)

All are welcome to attend! Concert starts at 7:00pm. Report time at 5:30. Featuring soloists and small and large ensembles.



5. Jazz Tracs 2022 - 5/19

The final jazz performance of the year, featuring the Mike Cammilleri Organ Trio! One night only - Thursday, May 19th at 7:00 -- and tickets are available soon!
