Hello band families,

If for any reason you were not able to bring home your instrument last week, please let me know by 11:00 AM tomorrow (Wednesday 3/18).  After discussing with administration, I will be able to make a round of home deliveries - but even staff are required to be out of the building by noon for cleaning crews.

If you would like me to bring your instrument to you, please tell me:

- Student Name

- Address for delivery

- Where to find your instrument (especially if not in your assigned band locker)

I am planning to start delivering around 11:30 tomorrow.  If midday does not work (no one will be home), please email me and we'll find a time.

I hope everyone is staying safe and sane in these crazy times.  Please continue to check your email as we continue to work through this challenge together.

Hello band families, Although school is at this time still on for Monday, all students should take their instruments home today after school just in case. In the event that MCPASD would move to online classes, the best options for students to complete course requirements would involve playing their instruments. Students who play school instruments should also take them home if possible.  If this is not possible (e.g. you play the tuba but ride the bus), we will work to get instruments home if and when classes are actually canceled. We will continue to play during class for as long as classes are in session, so please bring your instrument back on Monday! === A few quick updates that were communicated during class today: -- Large group festival is completely canceled (no guest clinicians allowed in the school). -- WSMA State Solo/Ensemble is canceled, with a possibility of virtual alternatives. --  Michael Ver Voort Music Teacher & Director of Bands  Middleton High School

Dear Music Families of MHS,

We are receiving information and inquiries about the message sent by the music department to cancel the upcoming Minneapolis Music Field trip as it pertains to refunds.  It will take us some time to determine information from the vendors regarding refunds or how we might be able to utilize credit in the future.   Right now, the District's priority is creating plans for continuing instruction due to potential closure as well as creating procedures to handle staff or student exposure to COVID-19.   Trip organizers are going to need time to contact vendors, and the district needs to determine the best way to handle the significant number of refunds that could potentially result. What our nation and community are experiencing is unprecedented.   The situation is rapidly evolving. Either myself or the District Office will reach back out to you and other families in the district whose events have been canceled to share more information on refunds at a later date.

Respectfully,

Peg Shoemaker

Principal
