3/17/23 - Band Updates

Hello everyone,

Please read below for information pertaining to the next several weeks.

Large Group Recap

The MHS Band Program hosted its third annual concert band invitational yesterday 3/16. We saw schools from around the state come to participate, and students heard 12 ensembles throughout the day. Each band had the opportunity to work with either Professor Scott Teeple (Director of Band and Conducting at UW Madison) or Dr. Glenn Hayes(Director of Bands at UW Whitewater). Middleton students also had the opportunity to work with Dr. Alex Gonzalez (Assistant Director of Bands UW Madison) earlier this week to prepare for the event. We are so proud of the continued hard work and dedication shown by our students in preparation for this festival. We are thankful for the artistry that they shared with each other and for visiting bands. Below are links to the performances of each ensemble. Stay tuned on our booster website, booster Instagram, or Facebook for more photos of the day's event!

Puerto Rico Rehearsals/Family Meeting

Students and families, there is a family meeting on 3/19 from 5-6 pm in the PAC to clarify any information before we head out on our tour. We will be discussing and reviewing the information in the packet sent out. Should there be any updates, we will send a follow-up email. Band students will have a rehearsal following the meeting from 6-9 pm in the PAC.

Symphonic Winds and Chamber Winds Auditions

As students already know, auditions for ensembles will occur early next week March 20-22nd during classes. Placement in chamber winds requires an audition and entrance into Symphonic Winds has a strongly recommended audition. These auditions are not the only tool we use for placement, although they provide additional information for us to place students in ensembles that will allow students the opportunity for success and the goal of individual growth. Students may continue to find the specific audition information in their google classroom.

Fine Arts Week

Our annual fine arts week will take place next week and we are excited to create a space to highlight the hard work of students in fine arts around the school. Band-related events are listed below, and students will be called out of their classes for these times.
