June 10, 2016 Campus Messenger - MHS Band Summer Info: DCI tickets, Band Room Hours, and More!

Hello Band Parents and Students-

We made it!  Congratulations on a great school year.  I'm really proud of the learning and accomplishments of the past nine months.  This summer, there are a few opportunities that everyone should take advantage of.  These are open to any MHS band student, including incoming 9th graders and graduated seniors.

1.  Summer Hours - The band room will be open from 4:30-7:00 on Monday nights throughout the summer, starting right away this coming Monday.  Stop in and hang out - play jazz combos, practice on school instruments, and ask questions about the marching band music.  One of the PAC doors will be open for students to enter.

2.  Drums on Parade - We are once again ordering group tickets for Drum Corps International's "Drums on Parade" event.  DCI is the most competitive marching band league in the world, and the corps compete throughout the nation over the summer months.  Drums on Parade is held every summer at Breitenbach Stadium (the Middleton High School football field) - this year on Sunday, July 10 .

Tickets with our group are $12 each (normally $25).  Students were given an order form last week, and it is also attached to this email.  They should be turned in by June 17th - either dropped off at the high school or mailed to me at 2100 Bristol St, Middleton WI 53562.  If you have never been to a DCI event, please  seriously consider joining us - it's an incredible experience.

3.  Marching Band Reminder - There will be a separate marching band information email coming out, but participating students should remember to spend some real time this summer memorizing their music -  especially if they will be missing any marching band camp time for sports, vacation, or link crew.
