Just a reminder about this Sat. UW Jazz Fest event. Attached is the schedule for day. Below is some additional info for students and parents. ARRIVING & CHECK IN: Students from all schools, please meet at Music Hall. Due to WYSO’s regular Saturday rehearsals, the festival volunteer crew has to move a lot of gear into the Humanities Building rooms on a compressed schedule, and those rooms will not be available before 1:00 pm. At 1:00 pm, a festival volunteer will show students from Madison East and Madison West to their respective Humanities Building rooms. COATS AND CASES: Each school will have a seating area of the Music Hall balcony assigned to them to store coats and cases during the afternoon. The same area will be available for each school to listen to the other groups during the evening concert. Please do not leave valuables unattended. CONCERT ORDER: NOTE: to keep the final concert length manageable, please program no more than 10 minutes of material per school (2-3 selections). 1. Madison West High School 2. James Madison Memorial High School 3. Madison East High School 4. Milwaukee High School of the Arts 5. Middleton High School 6. UW Jazz Orchestra 7. Gabriel Alegria’s Afro-Peruvian Sextet (the clinicians) EQUIPMENT PROVIDED / PLEASE BRING: The concert stage, each improvisation workshop room, and the rhythm section coaching room each have a drum set (without cymbals), a bass amp, a guitar amp, and a piano. Any guitarist who wants to use their own amplifier is welcome to do so. Additional guitarists have to bring their own amps. Please ask your drummer(s) to bring their own or your school’s cymbals, including hi-hat cymbals. Other percussion instruments can likely be provided by request – please request them as early as possible.
