Hello band parents and students-
It is once again time for the annual Band and Orchestra Parents' Association (BOPA) fruit sale! This is the single largest fundraiser or the year, and it raises over $20,000 - more than half of BOPA's operating budget. Money from this sale supports and makes possible all of the experiences available to band students (concert band, solo/ensemble, jazz ensemble, marching band, honors wind ensemble, etc.). Additionally, students can raise money for their band account to defray travel costs and school events like solo/ensemble fees.
This year, we are asking every student to sell five boxes of fruit. This small contribution will help BOPA to continue to support you/your students in their school music program. Occasionally, families ask if BOPA accepts donations in lieu of sales; the answer (of course) is yes. Checks can be made out to MHS BOPA and turned in directly to Mr. V or Mr. Brown, and receipts can be provided for tax purposes.
Fruit Sale Details: - Order forms are due MONDAY, NOV. 28 - All fruit must be picked up on Delivery Day - SATURDAY, DEC. 10 - Customers should direct payment to you; each student/family will then write one check to BOPA on fruit delivery day. No money should be turned in with order forms.
Helping at Delivery Day: The BOPA fruit sale is really a "by parents, for students" fundraiser. The entirety of the event, from creating the order forms to delivery of the fruit, is coordinated by parents. On Fruit Delivery Day (Sat. 12/10), parents and students gather at MHS to help unload, sort, and distribute an entire semi truck full of fruit. The link for parents to sign up is http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b094baca62aab9-20... students will sign up at school. Please consider helping out; it's a lot of fun!
How to Sell Fruit: Fruit is an easy product to sell in person (most people really do want to buy it), but there are other ways that students have found great success: - Emailing friends and family. Here are two sample emails students could use: Sample 1. Sample 2. - Having a parent leave an order form or poster in a break room at work. - Selling at church or other religious community after services. - Going door to door with a friend playing duets - Asking current and former teachers (every year teachers ask us in December if it's too late to buy fruit!)
Thanks to everyone who has already sold fruit - and all the students who will sell fruit this month. Be sure to check out the website at https://mhsbopa.com/fruit-sale/. Questions? Contact our parent chair Brad Nordhaus (mhsfruitsale.brad@gmail.com) or either of the teachers.
