Hello Orchestra students and families,
Some quick updates:
1. Band & Orchestra Booster Meeting 10/13, 7:00pm --
If you are receiving this message, congratulations! You are a part of BOPA :) Every parent/guardian of a MHS band or orchestra student is automatically a member of our booster group. The boosters really make MHS orchestra what it is by supporting our classes, Philomusica, guest artists, travel, and the countless other experiences that make our program special.
Our booster kick-off meeting this year is from 7:00-8:00pm next Tuesday, October 13th. Please reserve this time at all possible -- especially if you have a freshman student!
ZOOM LINK - Please check your email from Mr. Kurr on October 7 for the Zoom Link. For security reasons, BOPA does not publish the link on its website.
2. MHS BOPA Website
The MHS BOPA website is packed with information, pictures, and more. At a point when we would return to in-person classes and activities, the website will be a go-to place for details. Check it out at https://www.middletonbandorchestra.org
3. Spiritwear coming soon!
Sometime in the next month the MCPASD Orchestras will be selling Orchestra Spiritwear. Featuring our classy logo, there will be clothing items and other collectibles. Have an idea for something we should add to our cart? Drop me an email!
4. Classwork
Ask your students about the work they are doing in orchestra classes. While we are not able to perform together in a large group, some of the assignments are leading us toward some great projects together and the work I am seeing from your students is really impressive. Students should complete about 1 assignment per week to be on target for the semester.
5. Philomusica is working with Mark Wood again!
Philomusica, our extra-curricular eclectic string ensemble, is beginning work soon over Zoom. All orchestra students are welcome to join with no audition. We will be working over the first semester toward a project with Mark Wood, the founding violinist for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. We will be choosing a fun tune to prepare, we will work virtually with Mr. Wood, and then his staff will put together a virtual music video featuring our students. Stay tuned!

Algunas actualizaciones rápidas:

Los impulsores realmente hacen de la orquesta de MHS lo que es al apoyar nuestras clases, Philomusica, artistas invitados, viajes y las innumerables otras experiencias que hacen que nuestro programa sea especial.
Nuestra reunión inicial de refuerzo este año es de 7: 00-8: 00 pm el próximo martes 13 de octubre. Por favor reserve este tiempo en todo lo posible, ¡especialmente si tiene un estudiante de primer año!

3. ¡Spiritwear próximamente!
En algún momento del próximo mes, las orquestas de MCPASD venderán ropa de espíritu para orquestas. Con nuestro elegante logotipo, habrá prendas de vestir y otros objetos de colección. ¿Tiene una idea para algo que deberíamos agregar a nuestro carrito? ¡Envíeme un correo electrónico!
4. Trabajo en clase
Pregunte a sus estudiantes sobre el trabajo que están haciendo en las clases de orquesta. Si bien no podemos actuar juntos en un grupo grande, algunas de las asignaciones nos están llevando hacia grandes proyectos juntos y el trabajo que estoy viendo de sus estudiantes es realmente impresionante. Los estudiantes deben completar alrededor de 1 tarea por semana para cumplir con el objetivo del semestre.
5. ¡Philomusica está trabajando con Mark Wood nuevamente!
Philomusica, nuestro conjunto de cuerdas ecléctico extracurricular, pronto comenzará a trabajar en Zoom. Todos los estudiantes de orquesta pueden unirse sin audición. Trabajaremos durante el primer semestre en un proyecto con Mark Wood, el violinista fundador de la Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Escogeremos una melodía divertida para preparar, trabajaremos virtualmente con el Sr. Wood, y luego su personal armará un video musical virtual con nuestros estudiantes. ¡Manténganse al tanto!
