September 12, 2016 Campus Messenger - Important Band Reminders

Hello Band Parents and Students-

Hope your year is off to a great start.  Please note these important reminders, and also check out the attached BOPA newsletter (distributed at BTS Night and sent home by mail).

1. Tuesday 9/13, 7pm in the PAC.  BOPA General Meeting and NYC Tour Info Session - Tomorrow night we will have our annual general meeting of the Band and Orchestra Parents' Association.   All parents are highly encouraged to attend to hear announcements about the state of the program and booster budget as well as find opportunities to help our band program continue its success.  Following the BOPA meeting, the directors will have the official info session to launch our spring break 2017 tour to NYC.

2. Friday 9/16, ~6:45pm at Breitenbach Stadium.  Band Parent Night - This Friday is Band Parent Night at the home football game.   All band parents get in free to the game, and  parents of marching band seniors will be honored on the track during halftime.  The band's pregame show starts a few minutes before 7:00 on Friday.

3. Thursday and Friday, 9/15-9/16. Fall Auditions - This Thursday and Friday during class, every student will be asked to play a very short etude for one of the directors.  This audition will serve three separate purposes: 1) A start-of-year playing assessment. 2) Placement into small group instrumental ensembles. 3) Invitation to the co-curricular Honors Wind Ensemble.  Please encourage your students to practice and to come in for additional help during ASR if they would like.  If anyone has lost or forgotten their audition music, you can find all of the parts online  here.

4. Homecoming Week - Be sure to catch the marching band at the homecoming parade at 6:00 Sept. 21 and at the homecoming football game a few minutes before 7:00 on Sept. 23.
