Band Families,

We will be hosting our large group festival next week Thursday March 6th and we look forward to having all four of our concert bands perform as well as hosting a number of schools from both near and far.  A schedule for each band's day can be found here

Students from each band will be signed out on a field trip (to the PAC) for the following time:

1. Concert Band - 8:30AM-1:10PM (Students will eat during 2nd lunch)

2. Symphonic Winds - 11:30AM-3:45PM (Students will eat during 2nd Lunch)

3. Cardinal Band - 11:30AM-3:45PM (Students will eat during 1st lunch)

4. Chamber Winds - 11:30AM-3:45PM (Students will eat during 1st lunch)

Things to Know about the event

Similar to marching band state, this festival gathers groups of schools who fall in our division (based on school size) and brings them together to perform for adjudication.  Our guest clinician for this year's event is  Corey Pompey, Associate Director of Bands at the University of Wisconsin Madison.  Each band will receive a 30 min clinic with one of the guest clinicians after their performance.

In addition to these two clinicians we will be adjudicated and scored by three state sanctioned judges. Each group will be provided a  rating I - V. This rating will be accompanied by recorded feedback and score sheets for student growth.

All students will need to arrive at school in concert attire and ensure that they have both music and instruments.  This event is our yearly adjudication and is an excellent opportunity for us to display the hard work and dedication your students spend in music to both our guests and to our state organization.

All instruments stored inside the band room or Jazz room (Percussion, Tuba, Contrabass Clarinet) will need to be removed prior to the start of the event at 8:30AM.  As the band room and jazz room will be used as a warm up for other visiting groups we will not have access to them throughout the day, please plan accordingly. Instruments stored in band locker rooms or in halfway lockers do not apply.

After we conclude our portion of the performance and adjudication students will have the opportunity to watch other bands performances. It is important that we watch and support our guests.

HelloBandFamilies,

Marching Band Registration is now open for the 2025 season! We're excited to announce the new show "Cleared for Takeoff" with custom music and drill to highlight our amazing students with music from "Where the Streets Have No Name", Ellington's "Rhapsody in Blue", "We Overcome the Wind" and more! The marching band has no prerequisite, other than for instrumentalists to be registered for band at the high school in the fall. The exception is with members of the colorguard. The group is the largest activity in numbers within the district and we'd love for you and/or your student to be involved as we will have an incredible show this upcoming year!

Many students and families receiving this email have participated in the past, and we also welcome new members during any year of their time in high school. Every year we have students try marching band for their first time either looking for more resume opportunities, more experiences with their friends, or just to try a new thing! We have had students join later in 10th-12th grade years, switch instruments for the season, or opt to make a switch between percussion, winds, and colorguard. You name it, someone's done it. We welcome all that would like to participate.

Registration for Marching band opens  Feb 24th - Mar. 14th. Please go to our amazing  booster page and follow the links to marching band for access to the current calendar, handbook, registration, and additional information! If this is your first time, the process is numbered for your convenience. The process can seem a little daunting particularly for new members, so the most important thing is the google form registration so we are aware of your interest and intent to participate. As you go to submit fees, please only click once as the submission button can take a moment to process.

Interested in color guard or percussion? We have intro meetings for you to attend and give it a test run before officially registering. This is to get a feel for these subdivisions of the marching band. It's an opportunity to show your skills and try out your interests. You'll also meet the instructors and get more information!

Percussion:  3/2 & 3/9 7-9pm in the high schoolbandroom

Colorguard:  2/26-2/28 4:30-6:00pm in the high schoolbandroom

Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have to  erothacker@mcpasd.k12.wi.us. From clubs, to sports, to travel teams, to hobbies, you name it, someone has done it along withmarchingband. We want your student to be involved in all the activities they enjoy.

Hope to see you soon!
